The urbanization process, instigated by the growth of subdivisions, causes changes such as soil sealing, changes in the relief, changes in watercourses, and others that alter the hydrographic characteristics of the basin. These changes cause impacts such as: the increase in peak flow resulting from precipitation, the reduction of time for this peak flow to be reached, flooding, and pollution. In order to minimize these effects, besides the structural drainage techniques conventionally used, non-structural measures have been studied and employed to control runoff that seek not to act on the effect, but on its cause. An alternative to help the runoff process is the implementation of alternative systems called Low Impact Development. Thus, the present work sought to analyze the influence of urbanization on the increase in surface runoff by presenting an analysis of the impacts caused on drainage (such as surface runoff) and alternative sustainable solutions for reducing the impacts associated with urban expansion in the area in question.

摘要
