Standardization is a necessary means to promote the professionalization and scientific development of social work services. After 18 years of development, social work in Shenzhen has established a distinct “Shenzhen Path” to promote high-quality development through standardization. This chapter introduces the background, theoretical basis, and three major stages of development of standardization in Shenzhen’s social work. It analyzes the path of standardization construction, which is supported by industry associations, standardization committees, cross-sectoral experts, and high-level social work talents. This path has led to the cohesion of the industry, the establishment of a standard system for social work in Shenzhen, active participation in the formulation of national and industry standards, and the promotion of high-quality development in social work. The chapter also discusses the practical achievements of Shenzhen’s social work standardization and reflects on the challenges faced in standardization construction.
