Environmental issues and problems, especially since the 1980s, have become severe problems that must be dealt with in all living environments. This situation also means that universities are part of environmental issues both in education and at least in the context of the natural environment they occupy, and they must fulfill their social and environmental responsibilities earnestly. Therefore, university administrations should adopt sustainability and development as a fundamental policy in their educational goals and environmental practices to contribute to a more livable world. The extent of meeting these needs and responsibilities of the Universities in Türkiye, prevailing problems, and probable solutions should be studied scientifically, and these studies should be seriously reflected and applied to the policies, action plans, and daily practices. Based on the rationale above, this study was designed as a situation analysis describing the sustainable environment and practices of Başkent University. By doing so, examples of sustainable environmental design and on-campus applications were scrutinized thoroughly. The study includes all ecological practices of the university by referring to six criteria mentioned in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education.

Sustainability Efforts of Başkent University Regarding the Sustainable Development and Participation of All University Members
