Environmental sustainable development is an extremely important and imperative issue for all of us who inhabit the planet, perhaps sometimes the repercussions of each act that each person performs in our daily life and how they impact the environment are not measured. For the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, its experience in the UI Green Metric not only means having a position in a ranking, but its part of its social responsibility to the entire university community and society in general and has allowed us to know the most important factors and variables. Its important worldwide to reduce our ecological footprint and increase strategic actions that allow us to help to reduce the effects that harm these environmental parameters in the short term. Being able to rank 88th worldwide in 5 years of participation, climbing 264 positions in them, is due to the sense of responsibility of each of us who conform the University, in raising awareness, but, above all, in putting into action, because without actions results are not obtained and this is what motivates us to continue on the sustainable path. Promoting and motivating with this article other institutions of higher education to join in the proposal to combat climate change.
