The chapter explores the sustainability journey of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) from its debut in 2020 UI GreenMetric ranking to subsequent years. Notably, AIOU’s scores surged by 210% in 2022 UI GreenMetric ranking as compared to 2020, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to sustainability. AIOU gained valuable insights into its sustainability performance by utilization of UI GreenMetric indicators, enabling the identification of areas for improvement. This, in turn, led to the development of various strategies that significantly contributed to the visible progress reflected in the ranking scores. Based on the strategies, a sustainable campus framework has been proposed that offers a clear path to direct sustainability efforts in the right direction. The proposed framework can serve as a guide for other universities to navigate their own sustainability initiatives.
