Sustainability is a challenge that has been pursued by institutions in different countries, especially by universities and schools. These institutions take the responsibility of raising societal awareness and promoting the possibilities of combining the preservation of the environment with economic development. At IFSP, which is a federal public educational institution, sustainability is worked in different spheres on campuses and in the rectory, but with emphasis on awareness through extension projects and a consolidated partnership with the community outside the institution. IFSP has campuses in 39 different cities, and some projects stand out internally in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. The LabSol Project is working on SDG number 5, which is focused on involving and training women to participate in different projects. The Areas of Risk and Climate Change project is assigned to SDG 13, where it teaches the importance of forests and their relationship with climate change. The Sustentare Project is tasked with SDGs 2 and 12, the Sustainable Gastronomy and the Zero Waste Project respectively. The former shows how it is possible to eat responsibly and without harming the environment while the latter shows the importance of recycling, rethinking consumption, and reducing waste, especially plastic.
