Higher education institutes can have a significant role in protection and conservation of environment and natural resources, by incorporating the sustainability into their campus operations and academia. The Institute of Business Management (IoBM); a leading business school is implementing several initiatives for environmental sustainability at its campus. The IoBM is promoting a least paper culture in its academic and administrative affairs. The examination department at IoBM saves about 466 kg (0.51 US tons) of paper folders and approximately 247 kg (0.27 US tons) of answer script annually by reusing these items. Moreover, most of the student assignments at IoBM are in soft form; saving about 21,000 kg (23 US tons) of printing paper annually hence, conserving about 576 number of mature trees each with 40 feet height and 6–8 in. diameter. This is equivalent to sequestering about 28745.55 kg/year (31.68 tons/year) CO2 annually. The Institute is also saving approximately 35,000 to 40,000 m3 of grey water (washing, bathing and ablution water) per annum by reusing it for horticulture and sprinkling purposes with the help of underground tanks equipped with auto sensor pumps. Moreover, there are also continuous efforts to implement a sustainable solid waste management system and creating a green campus through tree plantation and putting in the renewable (solar) sources of electricity at IoBM.
