Geopolitical Tensions and Their Effects on Trade Dynamics With in the GCC Region: A Conceptual Framework
摘要
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region serves as a central hub for global trade operations for its vast energy reserves. The geopolitical landscape in this region remains in flux because of ongoing tensions that include regional conflicts and economic sanctions along with changing alliances which significantly affect trade dynamics. This paper uses a conceptual model known as the Geopolitical Trade Realignment Framework (GTRF) to investigate how geopolitical tensions affect trade patterns in the GCC region. The proposed conceptual framework applys international relations theories and trade economics to examine trade flow disruptions alongside economic realignment and strategic partnerships as its main elements. The study uses a case study of the 2017–2021 Qatar diplomatic crisis to show how regional economic adjustments occur following major geopolitical events. The findings reveal important guidance for policymakers and business executives emphasizing the need to develop robust economic strategies to navigate shifting geopolitical landscapes.
