Addressing Gaming-Related Public Health Concerns and Challenges
摘要
The global growth of gaming has reshaped entertainment and social interaction, raising both opportunities and public health concerns. This chapter explores the complex landscape of gaming disorder, from its classification in the ICD-11 and consideration in the DSM-5-TR to the ongoing debates about diagnosis, prevalence, and intervention. While gaming offers cognitive, emotional, and social benefits, excessive use can lead to significant impairments. We examine epidemiological trends, public health challenges, prevention strategies, and emerging treatment approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, pharmacological interventions, and novel neuromodulation techniques. Emphasizing the importance of early identification, education, and cross-sector collaboration, the chapter highlights the need for balanced responses that address gaming-related risks while preserving gaming’s positive contributions to modern life.
