Video games have emerged as complex emotional ecosystems where players navigate a broad spectrum of experiences, offering both opportunities for emotional regulation and risks for emotional dysregulation. This chapter explores how gaming can foster adaptive coping mechanisms, such as resilience, problem-solving, and emotional flexibility, while also highlighting the dangers of maladaptive patterns like escapism and Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). The chapter examines the influence of different game genres, gender differences in coping strategies, and the therapeutic potential of gaming for emotional health. Design features that support emotional resilience, such as adaptive difficulty, narrative engagement, and positive reinforcement, are discussed alongside risks related to excessive gaming and online toxicity. Recommendations are provided for players and developers to maximize gaming’s benefits for emotional regulation while minimizing its potential harm. Ultimately, gaming, when approached mindfully, can serve as a powerful tool for emotional growth, resilience, and psychological well-being.

摘要
