The world of games has grown considerably in recent decades, consolidating itself as a powerful tool beyond entertainment. However, the potential for integrating them in healthy and effective ways in the context of early childhood, especially in education, is still little explored. With this in mind, this chapter proposes an interdisciplinary approach that connects games, neuroscience, and education, highlighting how the mechanisms of engagement and motivation present in games can transform learning. We analyze how well-designed cognitive games can strengthen learning, support emotional regulation, and promote essential social skills, and bring examples such as games based on brain-computer interfaces (BCI), which illustrate how emerging technologies can personalize learning in real-time and how design guided by cognitive load helps to balance pedagogical challenges, optimizing student engagement. On the other hand, we also discuss the associated risks, such as cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate content, and digital addiction, highlighting the need for a careful and balanced application of game technologies. Additionally, we provide practical guidance for educators and researchers on aligning game mechanics with learning objectives, integrating assessments into gamified experiences, and creating a safe and inclusive environment. We also suggest strategies for balancing challenges and skills, fostering collaboration among students, and monitoring individual progress. These tips are intended to optimize the implementation of evidence-based gamification practices.
