In the first part of this chapter we describe naïve set theory, and we highlight some of the paradoxes that led to its demise. The second part is dedicated to a thorough analysis of the ZFC Axiomatic Set Theory, with detailed attention to each specific axiom. We conclude with the introduction of ordinal and cardinal numbers.
