As occupational demands intensify and communication technologies evolve, the boundary between work and personal life has become increasingly blurred, raising challenges for work-life balance. This study employs a qualitative grounded theory approach to explore how mobile information technology devices influence work-life balance among administrative academicians. Semi-structured interviews with ten academicians from Pahang and Selangor reveal both advantages and disadvantages of mobile information technology device usage. Participants noted that these devices facilitate work optimization and timely managing work, and non-work activities. However, the frequent use of mobile devices also weakens the boundaries between work and personal life, leading to unintended intrusions during family time and other activities, negatively impacting overall health and well-being. The findings highlight a critical need for effective work-life balance strategies and policies that address the role of mobile information technology devices in work settings, fostering sustainable well-being by helping employees balance productivity demands with healthy personal boundaries.

摘要
