Tourism-Driven Infrastructure Strain in Iloilo City: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions
摘要
This study provides a characterization of the tourism-driven infrastructure pressure in Iloilo City, its key challenges, and proposed sustainable options. A systematic review guided by PRISMA and NVivo content analysis of focus group discussions between 15 purposively selected stakeholders were used to delineate key infrastructure issues, environmental concerns, and policy loopholes at the local level. Discoveries show that traffic congestion is on the rise, there is stress on public facilities, and over-crowding of tourist destinations are most paramount issues. In order to cope with the problem, research advises taking measures such as implementing intelligent urban transportation planning, improving better waste disposal measures, and implementing electronic monitoring technologies. These policies will be directed toward fostering sustainable city development, conservation of cultural heritage, and facilitating policy coherence in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of Iloilo City’s tourism industry.
