This study investigates the influence of the vow to poverty on motivation and life satisfaction among Catholic religious priests by using a mixed-method approach. Quantitative data was gathered from 90 priests belonging to various congregations through Satisfaction with Life Scale and Motivation to volunteer Scale. Significant positive relationship was seen between life satisfaction and intrinsic motivation, integrated regulation and identified regulation, while extrinsic motivation and amotivation showed a weaker correlation. Qualitative data, derived from a semi-structured interview from ten priests highlight key motivation and challenges. The findings suggest vow to poverty has no impact on life satisfaction and vow to obedience was stated to be a challenge.
