This paper presents the latest developments in safety standards for service robots. An outline of the structural evolution of robot standardization within the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) leading to the current state of the Robotics technical committee is provided. A brief description of the ISO 13482 on safety of robots in personal care is given. The standard is currently under revision and the paper provides a description of the process and status of the revision.
