White-collar crime presents significant economic challenges, as it undermines trust in institutions, disrupts markets, and imposes substantial costs on society. This paper examines the economic dimensions of white-collar crime, emphasizing its impact on financial stability, public trust, and resource allocation. Using a cost–benefit analysis framework, the study explores direct and indirect economic consequences for victims, organizations, and economies. The findings highlight the role of effective governance and corporate compliance programs in mitigating these crimes and reducing their financial toll. Additionally, our analysis considers the societal implications of illegal white-collar activities. By integrating economic and criminal law perspectives, this study aims to foster a better understanding of white-collar crime and inform policy development to address its far-reaching negative effects.
