Nanoparticle has become the latest domain of research and innovation in multifarious sectors nowadays, and textile is one of the most crucial of them. Nanoparticles have been frequently being used in diversified unique applications of smart textiles such as UV protective textiles, flame retardant textiles, electronic textiles, sensors, coloration and many more. But as the other side of the coin, they have some jeopardizing consequences on the environmental perspective. Nanoparticles are usually segregated from laundry of commercial textiles and they pollute the marine environment as well as the sustainable ecosystem is also dilapidated by them. Nanoparticles might affect the major elements of environment such as air, water and soil negatively. This ecological imbalance might deteriorate the harmony of nature and also might be detrimental to human health. In this chapter the major impacts of nanoparticles on the environment will be discussed as well as some possible solutions to tackle this skyrocketing challenge.
