Sunlight exposure is essential for human health since it’s a natural source of vitamin D as well as many other benefits. However, a vast array of dermatological issues can be caused by prolonged exposure to the sun, particularly Ultraviolet (UV) rays. Placing the nanoparticles (NPs) within textiles and apparel is a novel approach to shielding one’s skin from the sun’s harmful rays. This innovative method can be used as a better shield from the sun’s potentially damaging rays. Utilizing state-of-the-art materials and textile engineering, this novel method guarantees the utmost comfort and safety when producing fabrics. Textiles infused with NPs provide enhanced UV blocking capabilities, protecting wearers from the harmful consequences of extended sun exposure. Incorporating NPs into the fabric improves its performance in several ways, including its resistance to harmful UV rays, breathability, and comfort. Numerous techniques, including electrospinning, spray-coating, and dip-coating are utilized to ensure that the UV-blocking properties are evenly distributed throughout the fabric. The role of NPs in sun protection clothing and fabrics is discussed in this chapter. It will also detail the ways in which this work and integrates. It will also delve into the functionality of these integrated textiles, challenges and a wide range of uses ranging from outdoor apparel to accessories. NPs integrated UV protective textiles provide elevated sun protection for those engaging in outdoor activities and have a wide range of potential uses in industries such as outdoor gear, sportswear and medical textiles. The future of UV protection fabrics based on NPs is promising with numerous opportunities for increased public health and well-being including sustainability, broad use across several industries and multifunctionality.
