Recently, the world has witnessed numerous crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and various local and international conflicts, in addition to natural disasters. These events have had a clear impact on global food security and extended security dimensions, as they are considered essential components for the stability and security of nations. These multiple and complex risks pose several challenges regarding their management by the direct actors responsible for food provision. However, these challenges do not affect insurance companies with the same severity, whether in terms of risk assessment and identification or in evaluating and addressing damages and compensations. An insurance system can play a crucial role in further contribution to the food security in the state. In this study, we attempt to demonstrate the importance of insurance in achieving food security by outlining the main risks facing agricultural activities and the guarantees that insurance companies can utilize to support farmers and protect them from the consequences of these risks.
