Sardines and other small pelagic were part of the daily meal of Algerian citizens in coastal towns. These quantities fished are low and therefore the price of sardines is no longer accessible to thousands of families. Each year explanations are given, for example the unsuitability of fishing techniques, the effect of the climate, the construction of several dams and the effects of global warming. Global warming is felt in Algeria by a long drought, forest fires, lack of rain, and increase in temperatures. It is interesting to understand the mechanism that links the production of small pelagic with environmental factors measured by satellite Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Chlorophyl (Chl-α) and ecological index. Fishing statistics (FS) are considered the control parameter of sardine abundance in the Algerian coast. We conclude that the spatial variability of FS agrees with the spatial variability of diatom/ dinoflagells ecological index and inversely with surface temperature. We correlated the statistics of small pelagic (FS) with environmental factors Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and chlorophyll (Chl-α). FS (Sardina pilchardus), is strong related to SST (r2 = 0.84) and moderate related to chlorophyll (r2 = 0.43) and slightly stronger with the two parameters together (r2 = 0.72).
