In Vitro Optical Quality Evaluation of Multifocal Intraocular Lenses
摘要
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard establishes the through-frequency modulation transfer function (MTF) as the most important parameter to optical quality control of the intraocular lenses (IOLs) and proposes through-focus MTF response performance at 50 cycles per millimeter (cyc/mm) of the multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs). Therefore, understanding the meaning of these parameters and how they can be obtained in vitro is key to the optical quality control of MIOLs. Other methodologies can be used in the control of the optical quality of intraocular lenses and this is the reason why techniques such as wavefront determination, profilometry, ray propagation visualization, or cross-sectional imaging of three-dimensional point spread function (PSF) techniques will also be discussed in this chapter.
