The so-called enhanced monofocal IOL or monofocal plus IOL are intraocular lenses (IOL) that elongate the depth of focus by a smaller amount than traditional extended depth-of-focus (EDOF)-IOL but provide an increased depth of focus compared to a monofocal IOL. The Quantum® IOL is such a monofocal plus IOL produced by Teleon Surgical®. It comes without the potential side effects occurring with standard multifocal IOL (MIOL) or some EDOF IOL such as reduced contrast sensitivity or dysphotopsia while showing superior intermediate vision compared to monofocal IOL.
