The existing multifocal intraocular lenses—though not yet perfect—do have a huge advantage in various patients who suffer from various ophthalmic conditions; however, in some cases, the use of multifocal intraocular lenses is not recommended as these lenses have some disadvantages such as reducing contrast sensitivity, which might bring an undesirable result. In this chapter, we describe different situations and pathologies that the cataract surgeon may face and summarize the recent knowledge how to handle them. As in all fields of medicine, advances are made daily as well as different trends come and go—though one cannot cover all the cases that may be, the main situations as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), paediatric cataract, and more are discussed in this chapter.

摘要
