Following its introduction, various techniques of partial nephrectomy have been introduced to further optimize the key clinical outcomes, which include negative surgical margin, the absence of perioperative complications, as well as minimizing ischemia times and maximal preservation of renal function. The addition of robotic surgical platforms, with improved vision, maneuverability, and ergonomics, has provided the opportunity for surgeons to implement refined surgical techniques, which further translated to enhanced perioperative outcomes. This chapter sought to discuss the common techniques used for robotic partial nephrectomy, including the transperitoneal and retroperitoneal multi-port approaches, along with the technical modifications often required in special clinical scenarios, such as the management of hilar tumor, redo procedure, and partial nephrectomy in a transplant kidney. Given the continuing advancements of minimally invasive surgery, this chapter will also discuss the recent introduction of the novel and regionalized low anterior access incision for retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy performed using the purpose-built Single Port robotic platform.
