Robotic Radical Cystectomy

Robot-assisted radical cystectomy has an increasing use as a minimally invasive technique and noninferior to open technique. The goal in robot-assisted radical cystectomy, is to reduce pre-procedural morbidity and provide earlier return of normal activity while maintaining oncological equivalance Robot-assisted radical cystectomy has the potential to continue to evolve. Although the technique currently appears to be only a minor contribution, it has the potential to increase cystectomy utilization, reduce blood loss and possibly gastrointestinal complications. In a robot assisted approach, a daVinci 3 or 4 arm system may be used. A 0 and 30-degree lens is required. The required robotic instruments are monopolar robotic scissors, maryland bipolar, forceps, and two needle drivers.
