The Renewal of Anti-Racist Activism in France Since 2005
摘要
This chapter provides an overview and analysis of different waves, or “generations,” of anti-racist mobilization in France, including a detailed analysis of five anti-racist collectives: Brigade anti-négrophobie [Anti-Negrophobia Brigade), the Conseil représentatif des associations noires [Council of Black associations] the Parti des Indigènes de la République [Party of the Indigenous of the Republic], the network Reprenons l’initiative contre les politiques de racialisation [Take Back the initiative against racialisation politics], and the organization committee for the annual Journées contre l’islamophobie [International Day against islamophobia]. We term these collectives as the “postcolonial generation” of present anti-racist activism in France, spurred by the 2005 banlieue uprisings and less wedded to ideals of French colorblind republicanism than earlier anti-racist collectives and organizations.
