The previous chapter examined the role played by Jewish American organizations in the rescue and relief of Tunisia’s Jewish community. This chapter will look into another aspect of Jewish American organizations’ presence in Tunisia which is rehabilitation. Being generally considered as the “intermediate task” interposing the immediate rescue task and the ultimate reconstruction task, rehabilitation principally targets the provision of educational services as well as professional training and medical care for Tunisian Jews intending to immigrate to Palestine.
