Artificial intelligence poses a number of significant challenges to human evolution today, primarily because its exponential rise and success have not allowed sufficient time for critical reflection on what we are becoming with technology and what we desire with it. Can computer technology be seen as part of a larger process of biological and spiritual development? In this chapter, I will expound on Teilhard de Chardin’s vision of technology and evolution and the richness it offers us in thinking about how to bring spiritual intelligence to AI, pushing evolution forward through ongoing discovery toward greater unity.
