Advancing technological developments have forced humans to evaluate whether prior considerations surrounding questions of origin, being, purpose, and future possibilities have been adequately framed from philosophical and theological perspectives. Intertwined with these technological advancements, transhumanist thought provides a myriad of new hermeneutical possibilities for human beings to delve more fully into discovering and cocreating the answers to such questions. In contrast to such emerging possibilities, prominent American evangelical Andy Crouch has raised concerns about the present and future dangers of technological development on the human person. This chapter will specifically address such claims by comparing theological perspectives, contrasting what a Christian Transhumanist approach would look like by providing a new hermeneutical lens to view the cosmos and our emerging technological future.
