Teacher Perspectives on Using Generative Artificial Intelligence to Improve Productivity in Lesson Planning, Rubric Creation, and Assessments
摘要
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is increasingly permeating the field of education, offering innovative solutions to enhance instructional efficiency. GenAI tools have begun to play a pivotal role in automating routine responsibilities, such as generating emails, rubrics, answer keys, lesson plans, and unit outlines. This chapter critically examines the efficacy of different AI tools in producing educational resources, such as lesson plans, rubrics, and assessments, across various grade levels and subject areas. Three GenAI platforms—ChatGPT, MagicSchool.ai, and Perplexity.ai—were selected for analysis and evaluated by a small sample of educators (n = 5). This qualitative research employed a combination of interviews and rubric-based assessments of GenAI-created resources. Participants were tasked with reviewing and rating lesson plans, rubrics, and assessments produced by each GenAI tool, and were then interviewed for more in-depth insights into the comparative effectiveness of the platforms. The results revealed divergent preferences among participants, with each platform having its own strengths and limitations. Overall, however, the majority of participants recognized the potential of AI tools in enhancing teacher productivity.
