Climate Adaptation and Community-Based Strategies for Health Resilience
摘要
Climate change is one of the greatest threats to global public health. Climate changeClimate change surges environmental disasters and hazards, which disproportionately affect public health. Extreme weather eventsExtreme weather events alter disease patterns and burdens. Rising temperatures have increased health risks, which are heightened in regions of low income and with limited healthcare infrastructure. As a response, community-based strategies have become key to building health resilience and social mobilization within participatory governance. In terms of improving public health outcomes, this chapter looks at integrating traditional knowledge, sustainable infrastructure, and policy interventions into climate adaptationClimate adaptation strategies at the community level. Case studies from different regions demonstrate that locally led initiatives have been successful in reducing climate-induced health vulnerabilities. Moreover, it considers the role of governments, NGOs, and digital technology in reinforcing adaptation. However, several challenges and barriers exist, including resource constraintsResource constraints, policy gaps, and sociocultural resistance to change. Therefore, there is a need to develop sustainable solutions to minimize climate-related risks and associated public health vulnerability.
