This chapter examines the silencing and marginalization of Black queer women faculty in higher education, particularly in the context of early childhood teacher education. Exploring the intersections of race, gender, and sexual orientation, I utilized endarkened poetic inquiry to critique the societal and institutional positioning of Black queer motherscholars outside of both Black heterosexual and white women's experiences. Through the lens of scholars such as Bailey & Miller (2015), Gumbs (2010), and Lorde (1984), who have long theorized about the intersections shaping the lives of Black queer femme-identified individuals, I seek to reflect on Lorde's notion of the “mythical norm” that continues to uphold dominant narratives. This chapter offers a personal and scholarly exploration of my lived experiences as a Black queer motherscholar and calls for a reimagining of higher education institutions toward a radical futurity that embraces these intersecting identities.
