Ivory Towers, Bassinets and Wheelchairs, Oh My!
摘要
Poetry and storytelling can be a way to heal broken pieces of ourselves. The author hopes to use poetry to share her voice as a Black woman scholar, and mother to a Black daughter with disabilities to address the dichotomies in disability and motherhood spaces. The use of poetry in this submission will unlock some of the guarded spaces in Black disability educational studies and Black motherhood disability discourse. The author’s lived experiences of knowing and being a Black mother to a disabled Black child and Black academic can be a way of healing and resistance in an ableist society.
