This paper examines the transformative potential of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) within the landscape of hybrid education, highlighting its role in fostering intercultural, collaboration and digital competencies. In alignment with EU educational goals and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on inclusive and equitable education, COIL enables accessible internationalization without requiring physical mobility, supporting institutional strategies for inclusion, mobility, and sustainability. Key phases of COIL projects—planning, enaction, and evaluation—are essential in ensuring that learning outcomes align with collaborative goals, leveraging ongoing feedback and diverse digital tools to foster inclusivity, enhance student engagement, and facilitate continuous project improvement. Through these structured phases, COIL projects emphasize competencies such as empathy, teamwork, and intercultural communication while accommodating flexible, hybrid learning models that encourage pedagogical innovation. By expanding access to cross-cultural learning experiences, COIL prepares students for global citizenship and enriches their professional networks, equipping them for increasingly interconnected work environments. This study underscores COIL’s capacity to reshape educational practices by fostering inclusive, high-quality education that is adaptable to digital era challenges, positioning COIL as a relevant possibility for advancing hybrid, globally connected education in alignment with the European Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027).

摘要
