In this chapter, we explore the realm of visual representations, encompassing images and maps, with a central focus on rendering them accessible to a broader audience, including individuals with colour vision deficiencies. Our overarching goal is to foster greater inclusivity within the realm of science communication. To achieve this objective, we showcase the R package cblindplot and explain its significance. We illustrate its genesis, based on the most common types of colour-blindness: deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia. Furthermore, we undertake a series of practical, step-by-step examples to offer a comprehensive understanding of how cblindplot operates, ensuring a deeper grasp of its functionality. We also describe some other R packages that may be useful for colourblind-friendly visualisations.
