Including Families in the Therapeutic Process

Many therapists tend to focus on individual clients and individual mental healthmental health and overlook their clients’ significant relationshipsrelationships. It is possible that therapists prioritise individual therapy because their training programs emphasised individual therapy models. It might also be due to convenience. Involving multiple people can be challenging. But we are profoundly influenced by the relationships we have with the people around us. Our relationships are often the primary source of our suffering and our healing. We child therapists need to connect our clients’ challenges and positive growth to the people who populate their lives, including their family members.
