This chapter examines the spiritual dimensions in the works of Latife Tekin, specifically in Sevgili Arsız Ölüm, Berci Kristin Çöp Masalları, and Muinar, which are considered postmodern scriptures in Turkish literature after 1980. It explores how spirituality, encompassing new religious movements, secular piety, and alternative spiritualities, functions as a tool for personal and collective empowerment. Tekin’s female characters engage in healing rituals rooted in both religious and non-religious practices, such as fortune-telling and spell-casting, to assert control over their bodies, lives, and destinies. These rituals serve not only as forms of healing but also as acts of resistance against patriarchal structures, creating spaces for self-consciousness, self-empowerment, and the assertion of inner authority. Through these practices, Tekin’s novels offer a framework for understanding the intersection of spirituality, gender, and resistance, highlighting the transformative potential of spiritual rituals in challenging societal norms.
