Anticancer Potential of Flavanones
摘要
Among the polyphenols are flavonoids, which are a large group of bioactive compounds and are subdivided into isoflavonoids, flavanols, flavonols, flavanones, flavones, and anthocyanins, which can be found in different plants. Flavanones are present mainly in citrus fruits in high concentrations, the most common being the aglycones hesperidin and naringenin. Beneficial effects against different diseases such as cancer are attributed to this group of compounds because of their highly reactive structure, which gives them the ability to free radical scavenging, prevent oxidative stress, and regulate cellular metabolism, according to in vivo e in vitro studies, like some clinical reports.
