In addition to the colours of sun, moon, clouds and the sky, there are a large number of other optical phenomena in nature and our environment that can be traced back to light scattering. These include visual ranges and the legendary green flashes from the sun as well as colours in liquids, be it from cold glacier water to hot geothermal springs or the typical salt water oceans. Even some seemingly obvious phenomena of geometrical optics, manifested by clearly visible light rays, also depend on light scattering.
