Examination of the Hand

This chapter outlines a systematic method for the examination of the hand. Three tests for each of the median, ulnar, and radial nerves are discussed with accompanying photographs. A 20-second screening test for motor and sensory function of all three nerves is included. In addition, DeQuervain’s tenosynovitis, Finkelstein’s test, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), Boutonniere deformity, swan neck deformity, mallet finger, scapholunate instability, Watson’s test, Gamekeeper’s thumb, and Bunnell test are all outlined.
