Transgender is a more generic word for individuals whose gender identity does not match with the gender assigned when they were born. Transgenders, the third gender of the community are still not accepted and recognized by most of the people. The present study aims to study the lifestyle of transgenders, problems faced by them, opinion relating to their development residing in and around Coimbatore. In order to attain the objectives of the study the researcher framed a structured interview schedule to get the data from the respondents. The sampling technique being non probability snowball sampling technique. Simple percentage, Garett ranking and Chi square test were the tools used for analysis. The study concludes that majority of the transgenders felt Transphobia as the most crucial problem. Most of the transgenders feel that education is needed for their development. They opine that reservation is needed for them in all forms of jobs.
