Gig Women Entrepreneurship: A Study on Performance Analysis Towards Economic Sustainability
摘要
The gig economy has become a major venue for entrepreneurial activity, specifically among women. This study examines the experiences, skills, success factors, and challenges faced by gig women entrepreneurs in Coimbatore City. The findings of the study indicate that the majority of the respondents aged between 25 and 34 years, primarily self-employed (31.3%) and engaged in creative professions (33.3%). Business skills (33.3%) are the most common among gig entrepreneurs, but 28% lack formal training, and 34.7% rarely engage in skill development activities. Key determinants of success include a well-structured business plan (10.4%), networking and collaborations (9.8%), and financial resources (9.5%). However, gig women entrepreneurs face major issues such as financial constraints (9.7%), ANOVA analysis reveals that most factors influencing skills and growth do not vary significantly across age groups, except for marketing and promotional abilities (F = 3.426, p = 0.035). To intensify the sustainability, the study indicates increasing access to training programs, financial resources, and mentorship opportunities. Strengthening digital marketing strategies, fostering networking opportunities, and promoting community support help to overcome the key barriers. By managing these challenges, gig women entrepreneurs can achieve greater economic stability as well as long-term success in the gig economy.
