The health sector has been growing at a rapid speed. An effective and hardworking nurse workforce must maintain sustainability in delivering a quality base service. Nurses are considered to be the second key driver after physicians in running the healthcare sector. On the other hand, the world is facing a shortage of healthcare workforce. Employee turnover in the health sector has been a major challenge the healthcare sector has faced for a decade. Even though there are many studies done to identify the turnover rate in India however when it comes to empirical research on knowing the views of healthcare workers such as nurses on why they are leaving their jobs most of the related studies on this topic are done in western countries and very scarcer studies have been done on India. The paper focuses on assessing the psychological distress among the Nurses working in the hospitals and clinics. The paper has highlighted the distress levels of the nurses and it can be one of the leading causes of employee turnover in the healthcare sector.
