The rapidly increasing number of connected devices has made the network security of the Internet of Things (IoT) increasingly important. The growing threat of adversarial AI targeting IoT networks underscores the need for advanced defenses against increasingly sophisticated attacks, as new paradigms such as quantum computing can potentially compromise traditional defenses. Quantum adversarial AI effectively combines the advances of quantum computing with the adversarial AI landscape and will be able to address the varied and unique security challenges of the post-quantum world. This is a significant threat, even for previously secure IoT networks, as quantum computing’s advanced processing abilities can compromise classical cryptography methods. As a result, new security methods must be created to protect against these new threats. This chapter provides an overview of the current trend of quantum adversarial AI, the threat posed by quantum adversarial AI attacks against IoT networks, potential types of preventive measures to deploy to defend against such attacks, and a reference architecture providing solutions to secure IoT networks against the aforementioned vulnerabilities.
