Emotional and Psychological Impact of Nonobstructive Azoospermia (NOA)
摘要
The stress associated with male infertility and nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) is substantial. This chapter will highlight the psychological and sexual aspects of NOA and its treatment. Coping strategies for infertility issues will be discussed with particular emphasis on the four types of coping strategies and individual versus partner coping. The chapter will cover psychological interventions for infertility with a specific focus on social support and psychotherapy. The adverse psychiatric events related to the hormonal treatment for male infertility, as well as the impact of psychoactive medications on male fertility potential, will be captured. Finally, the effect of surgical sperm retrieval in men with NOA on sexual health, mental health, and the partners’ relationship will be summarized.
