The chapter offers insights into the historical and political backgrounds that have shaped the conceptual and practical developments regarding business ethics and corporate social responsibility in Greece since the 1980s. Special attention is paid to the main actors’—the state, social actors, educational institutions and businesses—landscapes. The motives, both international/national and external/internal are underlined, the role of enlightened people in the development process is highlighted, whilst good practices, synergies and discrepancies are critically discussed. Common sense, based on the evidence provided in the present work, suggests that some progress has been made in understanding the contemporary role and responsibilities of the involved actors for the way ahead. Nonetheless, there is still a lot left to be understood and done.
