The terminal ileum is a unique and important part of the small intestine, that is prone to develop Crohn’s disease. Loss of the terminal ileum in these patients can cause symptoms as a result of the loss of the unique functions of this part of the bowel. This question aims to review the unique functions of the terminal ileum.
