SCAD is an acronym of Segmental Colitis Associated with Diverticulosis. It is an uncommon condition that was first described in the early 1980s. Its pathophysiology is poorly understood, and its differential diagnosis includes ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and mucosal prolapse. In this chapter the pathophysiology of SCAD and its treatment are discussed.
