Colorectal cancer diagnosed in young patients is mostly left sided, diagnosed symptomatically, and is advanced by the time treatment is given. This is because the youngest age for population screening is 45 years, and patients and family doctors are not fully aware of the importance of early screening and fully investigating anorectal symptoms, regardless of age.
